Many People wonder about how is the standard of living here in Spain. Here are some basic information about flats, rooms and hotels in Spain and especially Barcelona.
For many people, visiting or living in Spain is a dream. For those who have travelled a lot it is easy to see why Spain is one of the most popular countries to live or visit. After France, Spain is the second most popular holiday destination in Europe. It is quite hard to give anything more than a rough guide to the cost of living in Spain. Prices vary greatly by area, with the cost of living much higher in the urban centers such as Madrid and Barcelona than in the rural Spanish villages and towns.
The standard of living in Spain is high, the weather in Spain is the best in Europe and the cost of living is cheaper, but not in big Cities as Barcelona or Madrid. In those larger cities room sharing is common.
Despite the good weather and the nice possibilities of recreational activities, you should not forget that Spain does not the same standard of living as other countries (Germany, USA) have. For instance, the cleanliness is not the same as you can see a lot of stains on walls as well as, maybe some more garbage. You also have to know that the Spanish mentality regarding time is very lenient, but that is not very annoying if you get used to it.
But nevertheless 4 * hotels offer a great service and if you prefer to stay there it will surely please you. Their accommodations are excellent but even here in Barcelona some of them are very expensive. But why fly to Spain when you want everything in the same standard as you have at home? Feel the Spanish way of live and learn that the life in Spain doesn`t take much time in the flats, but more outside, drinking Café, meeting people and talking a lot.
Also house/room-hunting can be a very difficult thing especially when you are searching in university cities like Barcelona. When the semester begins it is nearly a mission impossible to find a great room that is affordable. Because of this I recommend everyone who wants to come to Barcelona to book something in advance and turn to a company like Barcelona-home for advice.
