Nightlife

Experiencing the nightlife in Barcelona is one line on your to do list that MUST be completed. Barcelona’s night life is famous for being one of the best in the world. With countless clubs and discos, not to mention bars that occupy most of the space on the city blocks, Barcelona covers pretty much every theme and appeals to all tastes and budgets.

Nightlife in Barcelona has a stronger clubbing than live music scene, and there’s plenty to offer every night. Barcelona currently has a particularly strong house and electro scene, which is reflected by the number of clubs that keep that vibe alive all week. Although electronic beats tend to take center stage, rock, hip hop and indie fans are also well looked after. There are plenty Latin clubs with their salsa, merengue, samba and other funky beats. As well as regular weekly club nights, Barcelona is firmly on the global agenda and attracts a lot of big name live performers and DJs all year round.

If you don’t happen to be in Barcelona over a weekend, have no fear! You will also be able to encounter a raging nightlife pretty much any night of the week in Barcelona. Many clubs have special Sunday night parties, check ahead to find out what kind of music will be spun as they tend to offer something different on Sundays. Here in Barcelona, many clubs have VIP lists but don’t worry, if you’re not on the list you will still be ed entrance to the club but you will pay a cover. One way in which you can avoid an expensive cover is to head to one of the many popular new fusion restaurant-clubs.

Many of Barcelona’s restaurants convert to clubs after dinner hours are not permitted to charge covers. Drinks tend to be pricier than at bars. Also, check entrance tables in restaurants and shops for discount entrance cards for clubs. You will almost always be admitted to bars and discos in Barcelona but it is important to be dressed appropriately, that generally excludes sneakers and day wear and it can also be common to wait in a line before entering. If you stick to the many bars that the city has to offer, you will find yourself with many options. Barcelona’s El Raval and El Borne are full of small hip bars, though you can find this type in just about any part of the city. Bars tend to close earlier than discos, usually around 2:30am.

Barcelona’s club scene is divided into two distinct seasons: the summer, and the rest of the year. Many of Barcelona’s summer clubs include outdoor terraces, some are on the beach front or have a sea view, and some even have a pool! From October onwards the action is more focused on the dance floor.
